Grubhub – Heather’s Picks for Delivery
Anyone who knows me knows how much I love food, they also know how much I hate going to get food. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes it’s nice to put on pants and go out to eat in a restaurant, but more often than not it’s nicer to have food brought to you. Up until fairly recently we’ve all been slaves to whoever happened to deliver in our neighborhood, and for breakfast and on Sunday nights there was some slim pickings. Well, now it’s 2016 and we pretty much have the culinary world at our fingertips thanks to a little thing called Grubhub. For the maybe three of you less savvy than I who might not be familiar with Grubhub, it’s a website and app that lets you order takeout from all your favorite restaurants. You just plug in your address, Grubhub will show you all the restaurants that deliver to you, you select what you want to eat, and BOOM, your food is on its way.
Breakfast sandwich time Breakfast sandwiches are magic, and Boston Bagel Company is at the top of the food chain. My personal pick is bacon, egg, and cheese on a cheddar jalapeno bagel but you can’t go wrong with any combination. Oh yeah, they also have killer ice coffee.
At the beach Sometimes you head to the beach with a few snacks thinking you’ll only be there a couple hours. Sometimes you’re there for a couple hours and you have just enough snacks, sometimes it’s so nice you end up staying for six hours and the eight strawberries and snack pack of Goldfish (crackers, not actual fish) don’t cut it. Instead of packing up and leaving to get food just open up the Grubhub app and order a pizza from Olympic. You’ll basically be a hero.
When you’re hungover AF Hangovers are the WORST. And the older you get the worse they are. Mine are so bad at twenty-six I can only imagine what they’ll be like in my thirties! As bad as my hangovers can be, I’ve never met one that wasn’t made better by a steak and cheese with extra cheese and pickles from Sal’s. Remember Sal’s and Grubhub next time you think six margaritas was a good idea.
Girls Night In Queue up your favorite chick flicks, grab tissues and booze, and order up some sushi from Moko. Moko has an amazing selection of sushi, so you can get everyone’s favorites, and they also have plenty of non-raw options for your friend who literally can’t with raw fish.
Back on your diet I don’t know about you, but when I’m on my diet and eating healthy and all the crap I get pretty sick of my own cooking. Woman cannot live on grilled chicken breast and steamed broccoli alone, ya know? Well luckily she don’t have to, because Grubhub also has healthy options (seriously, you can search for healthy dishes) like India Quality Restaurant. They have a ton (seriously, so many) of healthy vegetarian, chicken, seafood, and meat options.
When you say fook the diet And then there are those times you say “screw the diet” and want to treat yo self. This is where Maxine’s On Saint James comes in. Baked macaroni and cheese, chicken and waffles, fried pork chops, bread pudding, sweet tea by the quart, you could do some real damage here. Diet starts back up tomorrow!
Daytime drinks on the deck A few bottles of rose in the sun with friends calls for the perfect compliment. Something light, sweet, and cute, just like you! I’m talking about macarons from Miam Miam Macaronerie! Possibly one of my favorite treats, just do it.
When daytime drinks on the deck turn to nighttime drinks on the deck You need food to sop up the booze STAT. I suggest a few large calzones from L Street Diner. Their meatball, chicken parm, and buffalo chicken are the way to go.
You know sometimes you just want to sit alone on your couch in your undies, watch a few Datelines about murderous newlyweds to feel better about yourself, and stuff your face, and when it comes to recommending a restaurant on Grubhub for that I say, you do you. That’s some pretty personal ish right there and I would never tell you how to live your life. JK get meatballs and chicken fingers from Salvatore’s and remember that everything will work out just fine in the end. Happy eating!
Heather has been writing for Caught In Southie since pretty much the beginning and for that we apologize. She can often be found on her couch with a log of raw cookie dough. Her biggest fear is being on an episode of Dateline and her wildest dream is being a guest judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race. Feel free to let her know if there’s something you think she should write about, unless it’s stupid.
