Well, it looks like the BBG will be officially closing its doors on Sunday, February 19th.  According to our favorite Southie “boots on the ground” scoop – Eileen Murphy – the Beer Garden’s Facebook page announced the closing.   Of course, it’s not closing quietly! There are two ticket bashes in the works for Friday and Saturday – so stay tuned for details.

The BBG closing is really no shock.  It had been rumored that the restaurant would be close at the 732 East Broadway location and potentially open in the soon to be constructed ground level retail space next door.  No word if that is in fact true, but we shall see.  The owner of the BBG is in fact of the owner of the new project next door – so although it may not be named the Boston Beer Garden – it has close ties.

Surprised this news made your blog considering it’s not Lincoln, Loco, or Capo

Thank you for your info. Sorry for the sarcasm of Danielle above guess she never learned “if you can’t say something nice then don’t say anything at all. “. Probably not from South Boston originally as we were taught to be kinder and more polite.

Hey Lori, perhaps we can welcome all points of view, even if not your idea of “nice”. That way we can let freedom of speech flourish, a concept on which this country was founded.
