In light of recent news that beloved Klondike product and ice cream cult classic, the Choco Taco has been discontinued, Boston’s award winning Yellow Door Taqueria and pastry renegade Kate Holowchik of Lionheart Confections will revive their Choco Taco inspired dessert for one day only, effectively turning Taco Tuesday into Dia De Los Choco Taco.

The Choco Taco Doughnut will be available exclusively at both the South End and Lower Mills location on Tuesday,  August 2nd beginning at 4pm.   Doughnuts will be priced at. $7.00 each and available until they run out.  The Choco Taco Doughnut is a half moon shaped vanilla brioche filled with vanilla bean pastry cream, dipped in chocolate -peanut ganache and garnished with a waffle cone tuile (a thin crispy cookie!)

Halowchik, an award winning pastry chef, has earned a cult like following in the city especially among those seeking out her doughnuts at brunches and occasional pop ups.  Halowchik launched Lionheart Confections in 2020, as a result of being faced with a pandemic-induced professional crossroads.  The name Lionheart pays homage to the countless women in service and culinary industry who are strong, brave and tenacious as well as her astrological sign of a Leo.  Halowchik’s signature pastry style of playful, bold and flavor forward are evident in all of Lionheart’s sweet treats, donuts and confections.

Located at 2297 Dorchester Ave. &. 354 Harrison Ave., Yellow Door Taqueria is an award winning restaurant celebrating the freshest, Cali-Mex style tacos, crudo, salads and more from Executive Chef, Marcela Longas.  The Yellow Door Taqueria beverage program shines with a heavy focus on tequilas and mezcals, featuring nearly a dozen craft cocktails ($12,) pair of mocktails ($8,) a house-made sangria and of course, margaritas with an option to incorporate a variety of fresh fruit flavors. The beer program will feature both New England brews and Mexican imports, available by the draft and bottle while wines will have more global influence and available only by the glass (red, white, rose and sparkling.)
