End of an Era: After 16 years in Southie, Stats will close its doors at the end of the month

With news that the spot where STATS resides was being redeveloped into a building with 15 units, it had been rumored that the neighborhood sports bar could be closing. Well, on Monday, the news was confirmed with the following post from the owner of STATs on Instagram:
July 8th, 2010 – March 29, 2026.

As we turned the page to March this weekend, we wanted to officially share the news that at the end of this month, we will be closing our doors here at Stats.
With the help of everyone that has danced on a chair, dropped a shot glass, or stumbled up the stairs, we’ve run this building into the ground over the past 16 years. The time has finally come to start over. Stats as you know it will be knocked down this spring to make way for a bigger and better version coming sometime in the future (week 1 of the 2027 NFL season perhaps?!). The Sunday Fundays will be back. With a twist. And who knows, your favorite bartender might also be back (won’t name any names specifically)!
We’ve been through a lot. 16 years is a long time. Back then, most of us were single. No one had kids. We met our wives, husbands, and multiple significant others here. We shut the doors with sadness, but also with pride. We’re proud of what we built. Stats went from being a shot in the dark in a hidden gem of a neighborhood to a brand in itself at the center of what is now considered the greatest place to be in Boston.
We changed lives. Mostly for the better.
All because of you. The most loyal customer base a bar could ever ask for. You showed up on Sunday’s. You showed up for lunch on Tuesday’s. You showed up at 7am for MULTIPLE USA olympic hockey games 13 years apart. You showed up for Brady and Belichick and now for Maye and Vrabel. You showed up for 15 St. Patrick’s Day Parade’s (16 in a couple weeks…please come say hi again). You showed up when you had to wear a mask to get inside (can we all just forget those days?). You showed up in the parking lot sitting at a picnic table. You showed up during snowstorms. You showed up on our Uber eats tablet in the kitchen. You showed up for your friend’s marathon fundraiser. You showed up when you had nothing else to do that night but knew you would see a friendly face behind the bar serving you a cold drink and a tasty spring roll. You showed up for us. We hope we showed up for you.
We’ll be back. We promise.
27 days left. Let’s go out with a f*cking bang!
It ends with “We’ll be back. We promise.” But until we get more details of what exactly that means, stop by and pay your respects.

I used to go here after work for a pint and a burger with my co-workers.
It used to be a Cajun “Zydeco” Grille in the 1990’s with a giant alligator head coming out of the building above the entrance as a logo.
who?
Well done, STATS. That’s a great message—Looking forward to seeing what you build next.
