East Broadway is making a comeback
Boston Beer Garden and the Playwright, once South Boston institutions, are being shut down and replaced by The Broadway and The Punk & Poet respectively .
What’s different? Everything! Food once an afterthought, will now be creative and inspiring. Drinks will no longer be boring.
Designers, architects and craftsmen have been at work concocting a look that will have Instagram a flutter. The owners took at look in the mirror and said we have to change. We have to be better. We will continue to be supportive and more committed than ever to our local charities.
Look for them on Instagram at @TheBroadwaySouthBoston and @ThePunk&Poet for all updates.
Openings are slated for early September (Boomtown) and October for its big brother The Broadway. How exciting!
Are the b.u.”s coming back? Broadway unemployed!
In the late 5o’s early 60’s that was a gang of kids at k and Broadway
and now it’s a gang of yuppies and their adorable french bulldogs! What a wonderful change to the neighborhood.
You know Charlie, if my Aunt had balls she would be my Uncle
So exciting that it’s painful.
What kind of name is Boomtown absurd!
Can we take our children/grandchildren to these places?.. It doesn’t look that way to me. Looks like they only catering to the older people.
I’m sure they won’t be barred from entry, but I doubt you would feel comfortable bring them there on a thurs.-sat. night, no different from the places they are replacing.
Do you think that South Boston will ever have a family Restaurant?? I haven’t seen one in years, we have Sully’s at Castle Island but now where you can take your children? I would like to take my Grandchildren out to eat but there is none here in South Boston.
The Seapoint Restaurant is great for kids. Actually many restaurants in Southie are great for kids. Lincoln and Capo are also very kid friendly too.
