My Diner has officially opened in Melrose to a welcoming community.  Although, My Diner tried to stay in our neighborhood, it was met with many obstacles forcing the beloved diner to search other neighborhoods and they landed in Melrose.  “As Southie mourns, Melrose celebrates.”    According to an article written on North of Boston/WickedLocal, when My Diner posted they would be opening on the Melrose Community Board on Facebook, it received over 275 likes and 40 positive comments.

My Diner closed back in June and we have to admit we have felt the void of the legendary breakfast and lunch hot spot on A Street in Southie.  How many hangovers have we suffered without one of their delicious bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches!  There was a glimmer of hope back in October with My Diner possibly  going in at the corner of I and 8th.  Many people were thrilled with the prospect of the potential new spot.  An online petition was even started in support of diner opening at 545 East Eighth Street with more than 1000 signatures.

But remember it’s Southie and not everyone was happy with the idea of the diner at that location.  At an abutters meeting, trash, traffic and parking were listed as concerns.

So there you have it!  We wonder if they’ll deliver to Southie.  We can only hope!

And don’t forget this guy…..
