Bring it on!

Wouldn’t it be nice to sit in a cozy spot in the neighborhood and enjoy a little dessert with delightfully boozy coffee drink? Like a Caffe Vittoria but in Southie.  Well, according to Universal Hub, the owner of Broadway Pastry + Coffee Shop on West Broadway is hoping to serve beer, wine + liqueurs in addition to coffee, breakfast, lunch and dessert.

On Wednesday, an attorney for the cafe spoke before the City of Boston’s licensing board and stated that the owner for Broadway Pastry has even hired a pastry chef from the legendary Mike’s Pastry on Hanover Street in the North End.

The mayor’s office and aides to City Councilors Ed Flynn and Michael Flaherty stated their support at the hearing in addition to State Sen. Nick Collins’ office. Two neighbors also voiced support stating the owner is a great neighbor. Good to know!

The board will vote potentially Thursday on whether to grant a license or not to the coffee shop.  If Broadway Pastry does in fact get the approval, the City will have to find a license for them. As of now, there are none available.

Fingers Crossed!

Sugar Bowl in Dorchester was recently granted a liquor license and it has breathed new life into the ice cream and coffee shop!
