Starting Monday, restaurants will be able to open bar seating for food service in addition to seating more people at indoor and outdoor restaurant tables (10 people) in Massachusetts. There will be no milling around the bar. Patrons must be seated and will not be permitted to stand in bar areas.
Gov. Charlie Baker made the announcement during a press briefing at Mill City BBQ and Brew in Lowell on Wednesday. Bars and nightclubs will still remain closed.
Mayor Walsh also announced on Wednesday that Boston will allow bar seating and self-serve drink station with the following guidelines. In Boston however, the seating guidelines will remain at a six person maximum.
