Babbo Pizzeria e Enoteca is closing

The Boston Globe is reporting that Babbo Pizzeria e Enoteca will close in September and will be laying off 62 employees. Babbo is located at 11 Fan Pier.
Babbo joins the list of several other Seaport restaurants that have closed recently including 75 on Courthouse Square, Salvatores, Yo Sushi, and Casa de Pedro.
Of course, former owner Mario Batali’s legal situation probably didn’t help the situation. Several of three of Batali’s former employees and a local chef accused him of inappropriately touching them. Batali was charged with indecent assault and battery and was arraigned in Boston Municipal Court this past May. He pleaded not guilty.
In other South Boston food news, a new plant-based vegan restaurant is opening in the fall on West Broadway.
