Last weekend it was reported that the legendary Southie restaurant had to close its doors suddenly last Friday afternoon.  A sign posted on the door read, “Due to unforeseen circumstances Amrheins will be closed until further notice.”  Later a notice from the City of Boston was posted stating the restaurant was closed by Boston Inspectional Services Department – Health Division for the protection of public health.   Seems Amrheins was inspected on October 19th and received some health codes violations.

Well, according to Universal Hub,  The City of Boston health inspector fixed the violations and can now re-open for business.

Amrheins hasn’t been the same for a few years now. Between their desire to sell and that very lengthy list of health code violations on October 19th and 24th, I think I’ve had my last meal there. Definitely miss the quality of food back when Rich Ansara was chef. I’ll stick to Shenanigans

If it weren’t for the remaining loyalists, it wouldn’t exist today. That is for sure.

I agree with Brian’s comments 100% about Amrheins. Definetly had my last meal there.

I thought they sold the place anyway…..but yeah I’m good with going there….even their $25.00 gift certificate that was mailed to a lot of people (expiring the end of October) won’t cut it for me anymore….Thanks for the memories and great food over the years guys but just not the same anymore!!
