If you follow Caught In Southie on Instagram (if you don’t, what the heck are you waiting for?) you may have noticed a little brunch we had at Lincoln.  You may have looked at our pictures of boozy milkshakes, breakfast pizza, fried chicken sliders, s’mores pancakes and thought “ahhhh what happened to the CIS Challenge?”  First of all, don’t get your panties in a wad, we’re still doing the CIS Challenge, but this is real life, ok?  Life doesn’t come to a screeching halt because you’re trying to be healthier.  In real life you sometimes want to enjoy fun food with fun people, and that is your right as a grown ass person.  After you have a “cheat” meal you bounce back, and here’s how!

Let go of your all or nothing mentality.  After you fall off the nutrition wagon is your first instinct to call Porto Bello, order five dinners and ask for five sets of plastic silverware in an attempt to convince them all five dinners aren’t for you?  Me too!  Well, guess what? That’s not the way to go.  Get right back on that healthy horse.

Drink water, and lots of it.  Flush all the crap you ate out of your system!  Ok, not all of it, but you will flush out toxins and feel better, so spend the rest of your waking hours drinking water.

Workout.  Yeah you’re probably not going to feel like doing a lot since you’re full of cheese and now water, but you got to get moving.  Working out increases your metabolism, and you need all the help you can get.

Move on.  Last but certainly not least, get over it!  Don’t waste a second of your life regretting something you ate, unless you ate like, human meat or something, in that case you need Jesus.  You ate something not super great for you, it was delicious (I hope), and it’s done.

When you have a bonkers cheat meal you just have to pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and move forward.  If you’re doing everything else you’re supposed to do, a little cheat every now and then won’t hurt, so live it up…like once a week.
