Celebrate National Library Card Sign-Up Month with Three New BPL Card Designs

September is Library Card Sign-Up Month, and the Boston Public Library is celebrating with three brand-new library card designs!
The new cards were selected from more than 400 submissions inspired by the BPL’s “Free to All” motto. Winning designs were created by Elly Otharsson in the adult category, Carolyn Taylor in the teen category, and Julianna Peng in the youth category.
The cards are available now at all Boston Public Library locations and will remain in circulation through 2027 while supplies last. They’re free for both new and existing cardholders.
Don’t have a library card? They’re free for all Massachusetts residents. Adults can sign up with a photo ID and proof of residency, and there are also options for teens and children.
So, if you’ve been meaning to get a library card, September is the perfect time!
In addition to plenty of books to take out, there are so many great events happening at the main Copley Branch and neighborhood branches. Learn more here.
