Boston City Council to Review Residential Property Tax Assessments on Thursday

Have you ever opened your property tax bill and wondered how the City came up with that number? A Boston City Council hearing will take a closer look at how residential properties are assessed across the city.

The hearing will review possible discrepancies between a home’s market value and its City-assessed value, as well as Boston’s overall property assessment practices. The order was sponsored by City Councilors Miniard Culpepper, Erin Murphy, and Brian Worrell.

Residents are invited to attend the hearing and testify either in person or virtually. Written comments can also be submitted to the committee.  The hearing takes place on Thursday, October 8th at 2pm.

The hearing will be broadcast live on Xfinity 8, RCN 82, and Fios 964, and streamed on Boston City Council TV.

For questions or to request a link to testify virtually, contact Karishma Chouhan at [email protected] or (617) 635-3040.
