About GOTR:
GOTR is a positive youth development (PA-PYD) program based around team-style runs/activities that inspires girls in 3rd-8th grade to be joyful, healthy, and confident. The volunteer-led program is structured into regional groups of 8-20 girls who participate in a 10-week season, in which they learn to work as a team, build self-confidence, and connect with their community. During the season, the girls participate in lessons that prepare them for a 5k event, foster the girls’ confidence, help them build connections with their peers and encourage meaningful contribution to their community through a service project. The Celebratory End of Season 5k is a noncompetitive event that provides girls with a goal to work toward during the season. Completion of the 5k shows the girls that the finish line is just the beginning when it comes to going after their dreams.
Girls on the Run is excited to bring the program to South Boston at Tynan Elementary School on Wednesdays and Fridays from 4:00-5:30 pm for girls in grades 3-5. Lottery registration is now open through September 13th, and first come first serve registration will open on the 14th if spots are still available.
