Weekend Picks – September 5th

Eat:
Enjoy a meal at Cafe Porto Bello this weekend!  Feast upon their legendary chicken parm, veal saltimbocca, eggplant or pizza and order a bottle of wine in this cozy spot on East Broadway.  When you dine-in, mention Caught in Southie and get a $10 gift certificate to use the next time you visit!

Drink:
Raise your glass and celebrate the change of seasons, back to school and new neighbors!  Come to Williams Tavern (92 A Street) for a special Caught in Southie night on Saturday, September 6th beginning at 7pm.  Enjoy $3 Yuengling (16 oz) and $3 Bud Light (16 oz).  Also, a pitcher of PBR and a flatbread pizza for $10.  We will be giving away CIS and Williams swag like t-shirts, koozies and a free raffle for a CIS prize pack!  At 9pm enjoy the music acoustic musical stylings of Julia and Erik – they’re singing all your favorites from 1960’s to current hits! Shop:
It’s transition time!  That awkward time between summer and fall  when you’re not exactly sure what to wear.  Ku De Ta (663 East Broadway) has some great new styles to make that transition a little smoother.  Stock up on some great wardrobe staples like denim, tees, and blouses!

Watch:
Do you have Pat’s fever?  We do!  Watch the game Sunday, September 7th at 1pm at the Seapoint Restaurant.  Order up a Seapoint Sampler fully loaded with the best potato skins, buffalo tenders, and mozzarella sticks.  They serve domestic and imported beer by the pitcher too. Plenty of free parking too!  Insider’s Tip: Get there early!  Thanks to the amount of flat screens TVs and the addition of their new 82 inch flat screen, Seapoint is the perfect spot to watch the Pats.

Workout:
Join award-winning Pilates instructor Hanneke Antonelli for this fun workout and be ready to show off your upper body! Run/Walk:
Support the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition this weekend in South Boston.  On Sunday, September 7th participate in a 5K run/walk that begins at Carson Beach and heads out to Castle Island.  Cost is $30 and the race begins at 9:30am.  The Run/Walk to Break the Silence on Ovarian Cancer is the largest fundraiser and awareness event for the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition. Organized by local Chapter volunteers, this event celebrates our survivors, remembers those we’ve lost to ovarian cancer and increases awareness about ovarian cancer. Ride:
Whether you’re a hardcore bike rider or just a casual cruiser, Southie Cycles – a new riding club –  might just be for you!   Started by Southie residents and bike enthusiasts Steve and Laura Bowden,  Southie Cycles is a free riding club for bicycle riders of all levels.  The idea is to ride with the group or lead a ride yourself.  All rides originate at MyBike at 391 W.
