After nearly two decades behind the counter at Sidewalk Cafe, a familiar, friendly face is saying goodbye.

Kenia is retiring after 19 years at the Southie favorite, where she’s been part of countless morning routines and milestones over the years — from kids heading off to kindergarten who are now college graduates to first dates, weddings, babies, and everything in between.

Since Sidewalk announced the news on social media, the comments have been pouring in from customers sharing memories and stories about Kenia and just how much her kindness and warm smile have meant to their daily lives.

Sidewalk Cafe is celebrating its 34th anniversary this Friday, along with Kenia and her incredible run. Her final day is September 19th, so be sure to stop by, say hello, and wish her a very happy retirement!

Congratulations, Kenia! Southie will miss you!  Enjoy a well-deserved retirement!
