Turning Lemons Into Lemonade: South Boston Community Event Planned After Lemonade Stand Robbery

Talk about turning lemons into lemonade.
After two children running a lemonade stand on West 9th Street were robbed on Wednesday afternoon, neighbors quickly stepped up to show their support.
Dubbed the Lower End Lemonade Sale, the event is expected to bring neighbors together to support the children involved and send a message that Southie takes care of its own. Even better, 50% of the proceeds will be donated to a local organization working to prevent gun violence.

This event was organized by South Boston resident and mom Nicole Raukohl.
“We are running this lemonade stand back so the kids aren’t left with this traumatizing experience. We’re turning it around in the same exact location to show them the whole block, and all of Southie is there for them, and this should NEVER happen to anyone,” said Raukohl.
“This is a Southie family who has been here for generations, and this is their community, and they should not have to be fearful in their own community,” she added.
If there was ever a reason to stop for a cup of lemonade, this is it. Swing by, show your support, and help turn a difficult situation into something positive for these kids and their family. Because that’s what we do here in South Boston.
If you can’t make the event, you can donate via Venmo. See below:

Special thanks to Nicole Raukohl for organizing this event!Â

we saw the story on the news and live just outside of boston. my children have had lemonade stands for years and in fact my front yard is where the neighborhood kids set up theirs. additionally my friend’s kids enjoy lemonade stands as well and we are completely bent that this happened to these kids. is there a way we can donate? there are a couple donors that I’ve been in touch with but I’ve also seen the story and would like to do something nice for the kids.
Yes, we just added a venmo handle for donations! Thank you!
