Masks Mandate will not end on Feb. 28 for BPS
Well, that’s a bummer.
On Wednesday, Governor Charlie Baker announced that the statewide mask mandate for schools in Massachusetts will end February 28. But not for Boston Public Schools.
Boston Mayor Michelle Wu told the press on Thursday that she will would not be dropping the mask mandate for BPS. At a news conference at City Hall, the Wu said she is still looking for downward trends in COVID positivity rates and hospitalizations.
Earlier this week the mayor announced new changes to the B Together Policy.  The current proof of vaccination requirement would be lifted when the following conditions are met:
• Fewer than 95% of ICU beds are occupied
• Fewer than 200 COVID-19 hospitalizations per day
• A community positivity rate below 5%, as defined by the Boston Public Health Commission’s 7-day moving average
Fingers crossed the numbers continue to go down.
