It was announced at Gov. Charlie Baker’s press conference on Friday that Massachusetts is launching the first coronavirus contact tracing program in the country. The hopes is to mitigate the number of new COVID-19 cases ahead of a surge.

There will be a virtual call center where workers can reach out to people how tested positive for COVID-19. They will then find out who the patient came in contact with encourage those people to self-quarantine or get tested. Partners in Health will be assisting with this initiative.

As of Friday, April 3rd, Massachusetts has 10,402 COVID-19 cases and 192 deaths. Boston has 1366 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 10 deaths.
