South Boston Christmas Stroll & Tree Lighting! Kick off the holiday season with a host of activities as well promotions from local businesses. Have fun and, sip, shop and dine local all in one night! Enjoy a special tree lighting on East Broadway in front of the library, a visit from Santa and some old fashioned carolers!  This much anticipated neighborhood event takes place on Thursday, December 5th at 4pm.

Light Up the Seaport! Now in its fourth year, Seaport’s annual holiday celebration, Light Up Seaport, welcomes all to a festive evening embracing the surrounding community. A 54-foot Norway Spruce tree adorned in 10,000 white lights will draw guests to Seaport Common to enjoy special performances by local jazz singers Rich Dimare and Lydia Harrell, The Ron Poster Trio and Berklee’s Pitch Slapped.  Ahead of and after the tree lighting and music, the neighborhood’s first-ever Holiday Stroll will welcome everyone to visit Seaport’s retail stores, restaurants, and local businesses for special holiday treats and activities, and unique gifting ideas. The One Seaport Courtyard will be particularly inviting during the Stroll, as interactive sound and light installation Sound Sculpture by MASARY Studios is placed outside for an extra-family-friendly touch. Jingle Bell Run! Put on your Santa hat, lace up those sneakers and get ready to run for a great local school – South Boston Catholic Academy. On Saturday, December 7th at 9am join your friends and neighbors and run a 5K race along the South Boston beaches. Start and finish is at South Boston Catholic Academy at 866 East Broadway. Stick around for a post-race party with prizes, raffles, food and fun! There is also fun for the kids on deck too with two youth races. At 9:15 – 100 Meter Dash for kids (9 and under) and at 9:30 a 1/2 mile run (14 and under). If you preregister by November 30th, it’s $30. Post-registration is $35. Oh Christmas Tree! On Sunday, December 8th at 1pm, head to M Street Park for a good old fashioned tree lighting complete with Santa, carols, hot chocolate and more! For the 24th year, the Mayor’s Enchanted Trolley Tour will continue the festive tradition of lighting holiday trees while bringing holiday spirit to children across Boston.

Build a Gingerbread House! This December, Bostonians, visitors, and adventurers big and small can experience a day full of delicious holiday spirit at the Boston Harbor Hotel with the return of their popular Gingerbread Workshop in the Wharf Room. Tickets include a gingerbread house for decorating that are pre-made by the Boston Harbor Hotel pastry team, candies, chocolates and treats for guests to enjoy and decorate their houses with, a hot chocolate bar, Christmas movies playing, and a visit by Santa Claus.
