Update:

Around 8:40pm on Sunday, police were called to Carson Beach for a person with a gun. A crowd began to gather and became aggressive towards police. Shortly after 9pm, police were calling for assistance and backup after the crowd began vandalizing and jumping on police cruisers. Two teens were arrested – ages 15 and 17.  State police has not released the charges yet.

More to follow. Avoid that area.

Back in May, there were two incidents at Carson Beach similar to this one.

Maybe look into privatizing the beach. It’s worth looking into residents only same as residential parking.

Since so many people come to Carson Beach from different places, I’m not sure that privatizing Carson Beach would be the solution. I can see private parking, maybe, however. Beefing up security at Carson Beach might be a necessity to prevent such incidents from happening again. This latest incident, when somebody had a gun, is an especially dangerous example.

Sad to say but most of those kids live in South Boston so privatizing won’t help.

Where are these so called “teens” from? If they are 17, 18, or 19 they are grown ups not kids. Try and limit kid getting onto the beach. Is it a specific area and focus there. Double down on the hot spots.

Most of the trouble that happens at Carson occurs at night. So I’m wondering if the beach is privatized I’m wondering who the first volunteers to patrol the beech after midnight will be? Truly one of the dumbest ideas suggested

The summer has just started and already people going to Carson Beach and Revere beach are at each other. Well some are. This anti police thing has got to stop. I know people are so angry and impatient now, but why not CHILL and go to the beaches , hang with your friends and enjoy not being inside wearing a mask. Hanging at the beach at night used to be so much fun, now you have to wear body armor?? What a shame 😟

I agree by the way a good additional argument for limited access to purchasing firearms until you’re 21

    Hi, Maureen.

You’ve made some very good points, but while the ages of 18 and 19 are adults, the age of 17 is still a minor. Even so, I agree that the 17 year old should’ve still been arrested for and, like the other two guys he was with, should still be tried for and charged with his crime in a Juvenile court of law and serve a juvenile’s term, unless he is close to being 18.

Having a government that is not soft on crime and allowing police to do their jobs could help. Vandalizing a cruiser would have gotten someones head split in multiple locations in the past but today a simple macing or tazoring cuffed and stuffed may have cooled off the crowd. But no, close and privatized the beach. Reap what you sow.

Privatizing parking is not gonna make anything better it’s gonna make things worse plus these kids who are 15 to 17-year-olds who live across the street in the projects they go to the beach to hang out at night since the weather is nice and their parents kick them out the house so they can get high and drunk .

I am sure a lot of these kids are there and simply going along with the crowd and that allowing the police to come down on the instigators and trouble makers is important.
These kids know what they are doing and showing them that it’s a bad idea is the right thing to do.
We all have to live by the same rules.

It’s like a surfing movie with criminals instead of surfers.
