Caught in Southie received numerous tweets and pictures asking about the new sign hanging on the facade of Murphy’s Law.  Powerhouse Pub was one of the original names of the legendary bar that sits at the corner of Summer and East First Street.   But Murphy’s is not going retro forever.  The new sign is for an ABC pilot  – Broad Squad (oh boy!) – filing this week in Southie.

Broad Squad is set in the 1970’s and is about the first female police officers in Boston.  Although the title lends itself to a comedy, it’s not.  It’s a drama.   From Deadline.com, “Set in 1978, the series is described as a fictionalized account of the graduating class of Boston’s first female patrol officers. Dubbed “The Broad Squad” by the local press, they arrived at a tumultuous time in Boston’s history, marked by corruption within the police force and a heightened organized crime presence in the city.”

Shooting will take place on East First Street and K Street this week.  Be on the lookout.
