Mayor Marty Walsh and his crew of merry makers (including Santa) were in Southie on Friday, December 5th to light up the tree at M Street Park.  Mayor Walsh sang a few Christmas carols with City Council President Bill Linehan, shook a few hands and wished the crowd a season’s greeting.

If you missed the tree lighting, fear not, you can still see two more this week.  The First Annual Seaport Tree Lighting will take place on Friday, December 12th from 4 to 5 pm at the South Boston Maritime Park (intersection of D Street and Seaport Boulevard). This is event is free and open to the public and will feature cookies, cider and hot chocolate, live holiday music, a visit from Santa and a toy collection for Toys for Tots. It will be a fun opportunity for neighbors to come together to celebrate the season. The West Broadway tree near the municipal lot will have its official tree lighting celebration on Thursday, December 11th at 6:30pm.

We also heard the mayor participated in the Laboure House Tour this weekend in Southie too.  Marty loves Southie!
