Who the heck is Prime Mutton and why did he visit Roza Lyons in Southie?

Absolute Creamer!
Last week, we posted about Prime Mutton coming to town, and it was a kind of a big deal. So, who the heck is Prime Mutton?
Well, Prime Mutton is Jason Hackett, a wildly popular British food and travel blogger with over 1.6 million views on YouTube and 150,000 followers on Instagram, known for his reviews of local Guinness.
There is a science behind the perfect pour of Guinness, and not all pints are created equal. The flavor of this beloved Irish stout can shift depending on a few key things: how fresh it is, how it’s stored, and the temp it’s served (hint: it should be cold, but not ice-cold). And believe it or not, how it’s poured matters big time. A proper Guinness pour is practically an art form—start with a 45-degree tilt into a branded glass, fill it about three-quarters full, let it rest, and then top it off with a final pour that creates the classic creamy head.
So why is Hackett so popular? Well, it could be a combo of two things – one, since 2023, the 250-year-old Guinness has become the fastest-growing beer. “Can you split the G?” And second, according to Gothamist, Hackett takes his job as Guinness very seriously. Hackett began conducting his reviews on social media back in 2023 as well.
“It should have a very, very slight hint of chocolate, a slight hint of coffee,” he told Gothamist. “Guinness is very mild. … And if the bitterness is overwhelming, then that’s the problem.”
When visiting South Boston, Hackett visited Roza Lyons to have a pint of Guinness.
“He was an absolute gentleman and exceeded our expectations at Roza’s. He was welcoming and was delighted to talk to all the locals in the bar,” said one member of the Roza Lyons marketing team.
Hackett posed for several photos and enjoyed his Guinness on the patio.
As for Hackett’s review, we will have to wait. Here’s hoping it’s an “Absolute Creamer” – the ultimate ranking! He is still traveling in the United States and will be posting his full review in the near future. So make sure to follow him on Instagram and YouTube!
