Weekend Picks – October 2nd

Eat:
It’s National Taco Day on Sunday, October 4th!  Celebrate in Southie at  Loco Taqueria and Oyster Bar.  Feast on amazingly delicious Traditional Mexican Tacos! (2/order) $11 Carnitas, refried beans, lime crema, poblano jalepeno relish, orange supremes and goat cheese.  While you’re there try the guacamole and you’ve gotta have a margarita too, right?

Drink:
Raise your glass to the Ellie Fund at Lincoln Tavern.  For the entire month of October, be on the lookout for specialty pink cocktails and order one (or two) up!  $2 from each one sold will go directly to the Ellie Fund – a local non-profit dedicated to providing critical services including childcare, grocery shopping and meal deliveries to patients with breast cancer and their families. This week’s cocktail is the Blind Watermelon made with tequila, watermelon, lemon verbena, and white peppercorn agave. A little spicy and a little sweet – $10!  We’ll drink to that!   

Play:
Craps, Roulette, and Black Jack, oh my! Things are getting a little spookier in Southie….The Laboure Center (275 West Broadway) is having a Halloween, Thanksgiving and Fall Decor Sale.  With hundreds of new samples of fall and halloween decorations, you can get your house ready with pumpkins, witches, and skeletons, oh my!  The sale takes place on Friday, October 2nd, Saturday, October 3rd and Sunday, October 4th  from 9am to 4pm.   Stop by and help support one of South Boston beloved organizations making our community a little bit stronger. 

Workout:

Walk:
Lace up those sneakers and walk for the Scleroderma Foundation! Many families from South Boston has been affected by the autoimmune disease called Scleroderma.  One family  – with South Boston connections – is walking in memory of Maggie (Connolly) Coughlin (OFS)  and they would love your support at the FIRST ANNUAL BOSTON STEPPING OUT TO CURE SCLERODERMA WALK. Dedicated in Maggie’s name, this is the first walk in New England and will takes place on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Artensani Park, 1255 Soldiers Field Road in Brighton.
