Go Green:
Show your support for veterans by lighting up a green light bulb in your home in a visible spot from the street by Veterans Day.  Greenlight a Vet is a project that uses the green light bulb to spark conversation about our veterans and their needs as well as show our support for these brave men and women.   So by November 11th – Veterans Day – place a green light bulb on your porch, in your window or in your office.  Let’s go green, #Southie! 
True Value Hardware Store at 105 Dorchester Street will be selling green light bulbs with this in mind! Joyce Lebedew Real Estate has generously donated the first 100 light bulbs. So make sure to get yours this weekend!    

Register:
Lace up those sneakers and get ready to run for a great local school – South Boston Catholic Academy.  On Saturday, December 5th at 10am join your friends and neighbors and run a 5K race along the South Boston beaches.  Start and finish is at South Boston Catholic Academy at 866 East Broadway.  Stick around for a post-race cookout.  There is also fun for the kids on deck too with two youth races.  At 9:15 – 100 Meter Dash for kids (9 and under) and at 9:30 a 1/2 mile run (14 and under). Bend & Bowl:
PopUpAsana is at it again with a fun and creative yoga event this Friday, November 6th at 6pm.  Yoga + Bowling = The Best Happy Hour Ever!  Celebrate the end of the work week by getting loose with an hour long, all levels Vinyasa Yoga class co-taught by Kristin and Jenna, followed by all the candlepin bowling you can handle at South Boston Bowlarama – 543 East Broadwat. There will be rocking tunes, and a great beer selection, too! Get a jump on your Christmas list at the Boston Christmas Festival this weekend a the Seaport World Trade Center.  This fun-filled event will feature handcrafted gifts, holiday decorations, jewelry, clothing, pottery, folk art, and gourmet specialty food.   Tickets are $10.  For more information visit www.bostonChristmasFestival.com Kicking off the festival is an good old fashioned gingerbread house competition.  Top chefs from area restaurants, bakeries and culinary schools will put their dessert skills to the test as they compete in the 22nd Annual Gingerbread House Competition to benefit Housing Families, Inc. – a non-profit organization dedicated to ending family homelessness in Massachusetts.  This battle of gingerbread and icing will go down on Friday, November 6th from 10am to 12noon.  The sweet and tasty creations will be judged by a local celebrity panel including Caught in Southie’s own Maureen Dahill and her son Henry Gailunas (11 years old).  Sweet!
