So Hurricane Arthur has decided to rain on our Fourth of July celebrations – no need to let him dampen our weekend plans!

Eat:
Steamers, mussels, and oysters, oh my!  Located in the neighborhood of Fort Point, Row 34 is a welcomed addition to the ever-expanding choices of great restaurants in Southie!  Featuring a menu of fresh seafood, steaks, homemade pasta, and raw bar.  They also have an extensive beer and wine list.  They are open 7 days a week for lunch, brunch and dinner.  Row 34 is located at 383 Congress Street.

Drink:
Social Wines (52 West Broadway) is in the holiday spirit!  For a Summer Cocktail, try a Cucumber Margarita:
1 1/2 ounces tequila (we love 123 Organics Blanco Tequila)
1 ounce fresh squeezed lime juice
1 ounce Mr. Q. Cumber Soda (stir in a separate glass to remove the bubbles.)
Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake, strain into a rocks glass with fresh ice and garnish with a lime wedge. For a minty option, ball up some fresh mint and juice together with the limes. Enjoy inside or  outside and watch the fireworks fly!

For wine, Social suggests Rose, Rose and more Rose! Here’s a great choice: Le Fruit Defendu Magellan, 100% organic Cinsault Rose from the Chateauneuf-du-Pape region. It’s earthy, mineraly with freeze-dried fruit flavors of berries and citrus – and not too sweet!   For July 4th beer choice, pick up a 12 Pack of Jack’s Abby Brewing Framingham Lager. Chill it up for the boat, beach, patio or your living room!   (CIS also recommends a Dark and Storm on July 4th! )

Watch:
Celebrate the fourth on the third!  The Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular!  The fun begins at 7pm on WBZ Channel 4 with an all-star lineup.  Ayla Brown, Susan Tedeschi and Keith Lockhart will take center stage along with the Boston Pops Orchestra featuring performances by The Beach Boys, Megan Hilty, and the Boston Children’s Chorus.  10:30 the fireworks begin!  God Bless America!  Heading to the Esplanade? See:
Come about!  As of now, Old Ironsides will be making its annual turnaround on July, 4th at 12noon on Boston Harbor near Castle Island.  This will be the last time to see the USS Constitution as it will be in drydock for three years for renovations beginning in October.  We hear there will be a patriotic sing-along with a live band compliments of Sullivan’s. Who doesn’t love a patriotic sing-along?  Fort Independence will also be open for free tours in the afternoon and all weekend long.  We will keep you posted if the weather causes a cancellation!
