South Boston Catholic Academy’s auditorium will be transformed into Southie’s hottest runway on Sunday, May 1st at 4pm. Featuring local South Boston boutiques, models will strut their stuff and showcase some of springs biggest trends. Your host for this event will be Caught in Southie Editor and Fan of Fashion Maureen Dahill. CIS’s own Heather Foley will be modeling looks from Pretty Reckless and has been “watching lots of RuPaul’s Drag Race for runway walk inspiration.”

Let the Open Markets begin! The South EndOpen Market officially begins their season on Sunday, May 2nd at a new location – Ink Block. Get some fresh air, mix and mingle among rows and rows of artisans and vendors, enjoy lunch at one of the many food trucks and shop till you drop.  Here’s what you will find: art, vintage, furniture, indie clothing designers, ceramics, glass, photography, jewelry, handbags, food trucks, bakers, farmers market, and flowers.  South End Open Market happens every Sunday through October from 10am-4pm. The Market is located at 375 Harrison Avenue in Boston’s South End – this is the lot on Traveler Street between Harrison Avenue and Washington Street.  Check it out!

Calling all catholics! The South Boston-Seaport Catholic Collaborate is hosting a special Mass and Mixer for young residents in their 20’s-40’s on Sunday, May 1st at 7pm at Our Lady of Good Voyage Chapel – 65 Northern Ave for a mass followed by a mixer at Outlook Bar at the Envoy Hotel.

Pitch-in:
Beautify Southie’s parks and beaches!  Meet up with your neighbors and help clean are parks and beaches on Saturday, April 30th from 10am to 1pm at the Murphy Skating Rink! Volunteers will work on the parks, baseball field and softball field and beaches to help prepare the area for the summer season.  South Boston’s Park Serve Day has been organized by the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) in conjunction with Representative Nick Collins and Senator Linda Dorcena Forry.

Clean up:
Let Boston Shines help organize a neighborhood clean-up or a day of community service for your co-workers. Join the team and help paint a community center, plant flowers, sweep, rake and pick up trash to make our community more beautiful.  For the past ten years, over 5,000 volunteers have come together for two days in the spring to participate in a citywide clean up event.   The City of Boston is hoping to expand volunteerism and focus on the following four areas: physical service, university engagement, youth development and expanding City of Boston volunteer opportunities that help unite neighbors and communities.  So get involved! Road trip:
Head South this weekend to the Fifth Annual Eat Drink RI Festival!   On Friday evening, it’s the return of the Truck Stop to benefit the Rhode Island Community Food Bank showcasing the excellence and variety of Rhode Island’s mobile restaurants. The Truck Stop features local musicians, and also benefits an organization dedicated to ending hunger, held at the ALEX AND ANI City Center in Kennedy Plaza.

Saturday’s Grand Tasting features samplings of locally produced beer, wine & spirits, as well as an abundance of local food artisans at the Rhode Island Convention Center. During the Tasting there will be three Culinary Demonstrations featuring Rhode Island’s top chefs paired with a local producer to wow attendees with some of the best food in the country.  On Sunday, Eat Drink close the Festival with the Grand Brunch prepared by some of the state’s best chefs and pastry chefs. In addition to the food, the Brunch features entertainment by jazz student musicians, performances by The Chifferobe TropiGals, New England’s premiere vintage dance company, a coffee bar by New Harvest Coffee Roasters, and a cocktail bar by Little Bitte Artisanal Cocktails.  For more information visit: http://eatdrinkri.com/festival/
