Eat:
Judging by the lines last weekend, apparently Southie loves bagels. Serving up delicious bagels you can buy by the dozen or individually, Boston Bagel Co. (753 East Broadway) offers up breakfast sandwiches like the Southie Scramble, eggs, bacon, sausage, onions, peppers, and cheese for $4.50 and lunchtime specialty sandwiches like Turkey Avocado Club and the Tuna Melt.  Don’t feel like carbo-loading, Boston Bagel Co. offers wraps as well. 

Drink:
The legendary Quencher Tavern (170 I Street) will officially close its doors on Sunday, November 10th.  Located on the ground floor of a triple-decker, the Q is a cozy spot so to accommodate for the many fans coming to bid farewell, the Quencher will have an old fashioned block party. The block of I street between Sixth and Seventh will be blocked off for the festivities.  There will be live music featuring the Linehan Brothers and The Brigade.  The fun happens between 1pm-5pm.   Raise a glass to the Quencher!  Monday, is a holiday – Veteran’s Day – so bottoms up!

Get a jump on your Christmas list at the Boston Christmas Festival this weekend a the Seaport World Trade Center.  This fun-filled event will feature handcrafted gifts, holiday decorations, jewelry, clothing, pottery, folk art, and gourmet specialty food.   Tickets are $10.  For more information visit www.bostonChristmasFestival.com Kicking off the festival is an good old fashioned gingerbread house competition.  Top chefs from area restaurants, bakeries and culinary schools will put their dessert skills to the test as they compete in the 20th Annual Gingerbread House Competition to benefit Housing Families, Inc. – a non-profit organization dedicated to ending family homelessness in Massachusetts.  This battle of gingerbread and icing will go down on Friday, November 8nd from 10am to 12noon.  The sweet and tasty creations will be judged by a celebrity panel including Caught in Southie’s own Maureen Dahill and her two sons Peter Gailunas (10years old) and Henry Gailunas (9years old).  Sweet!

Give:
It’s the giving season in South Boston.  Help out your neighbors through two amazing programs in our Community.  The Laboure has organized a gift card drive for Thanksgiving and The South Boston Neighborhood House is looking for a hand with their Holiday Helper program.  For more information on who you can get involved read this: https://caughtinsouthie.com/feature/giving-season

Art:
The South Boston Artists Association invite you to a morning of art and inspiration featuring artist Wanderer Adam O’Day.  O’Day was born in Tennessee but now has a studio in South Boston at the Distillery (516 East Second Street) and creates bold and colorful cityscapes using multimedia.  This special event will happen on Saturday, November 9th at 9:30am at the Curley Recreation Center  on Day Boulevard.  Coffee and refreshments will be served.
