Eat:
Have you tried Sauce Trattoria (81 L Street)  yet?  The restaurant formally known as Wolfie’s has been transformed into a cozy Italian spot with a new menu including Chicken Milanese, Turkey Tips Risotto and award winning pastas.  Their eggplant appetizer is a can’t miss too!    Stop by and give it a try this weekend!  They also serve a brunch buffet on Sundays beginning at 10am. 

 

Drink:
Step out of the cold and warm up Jamaica-style at Shenanigan’s on Friday nights.   From 10pm until 1pm enjoy Reggae Fridays with music by Continuous Reggae.  You’ll be jammin’ in no time. 

Play:
Before Tom Hanks, who was the only other actor to win back to back Oscars? Know the answer?  Then you should head to Trivia Night at The Seapoint Restaurant on Thursday nights (Yes, the weekend starts on Thursday night this week. That’s why you have sick days.)  The Seapoint  has the best trivia night in town with one of the best waitresses in Southie – Stephanie –  ready to serve you!  And in case you didn’t know, football kicks off Thursday Night, September 8th with the Saints vs.  the Packers at 8:30.  Play trivia, watch the game, order a few pitchers, meet some new friends.  Sounds like a plan to us!
Insider’s Tip: The Seapoint has the BEST potato skins ever!   Try them!  They’re perfect with a pitcher of PBR.

Stretch:
Start off the New Year healthy!  Southie’s newest yoga studio, B Yoga (516 East Second Street) is promoting health in 2013.  Stop by and purchase a special membership featuring unlimited classes for the month of January for just $99.  Also, on deck is a nutrition reboot with a JOOS cleanse that begins Monday, January 7th.  And really, who couldn’t use a nutrition reboot after the debauchery of the holidays.  ?

Train:

Shop:
It is with heavy hearts that will announce that Urban Exchange – the upscale furniture and home decor consignment shop and art gallery will be closing its doors.  Stop by this weekend and shop its going out of business sale on Friday from 12:00pm until 6:3Opm and Saturday and & Sunday . 11am until 5pm.  Urban Exchange is located at 36 A Street.

Support:
We all know how bad Hurricane Sandy ripped through communities along the coast of New York and New Jersey.  The community of South Boston rallied together ran a donation drives with some residents actually driving there to deliver truckloads of supplies.
After seeing the destruction that Sandy did up close and personal, a group  – Team Boston – has come together once more to help the Rockaway Beach again.  A “time” will be held this Saturday, January 5th at the Teacher’s Union Hall (180 Mount Vernon Street) at 7pm.  There will be a cash bar, raffles and legendary Southie DJ, Dru Errico.  Ticket’s are $20 each and tables are available for $200.  To purchase tickets contact Renee Corbitt at 617-416-0267.

Congratulations to local Southie residents Julie Walsh and Jimmy Ahern who are tying the knot this weekend! They are an adorable couple from great Southie families and we wish them nothing but the best!  We hear the wedding is gonna be a real ripper of a good time!
