Some new businesses are expected to open in the neighborhood very soon! Here are some we’re excited about!

Blank Street Coffee

Founded in the summer of 2020, Blank Street was born from the idea that great coffee should not come at a premium. The goal is to provide a tech-enabled, premium coffee at an affordable price. And guess what? It’s coming to the neighborhood this fall to 489 East Broadway! Blank Street features small and efficient spots in urban locations, electronic espresso machines – so you get your coffee quicker and allows the baristas to bond with their customers, plus customers can pay and order ahead with the Blank Street mobile app! Each shop is usually around 400 to 500 square feet and does not have any tables or chairs. The whole idea is grab-and-go. This much-anticipated coffee shop was supposed to open last year…we are still patiently waiting.

Alamo Drafthouse Cinema

A new cinema will take over the former home of the ShowPlace Icon Theater any week now. Austin-based chain Alamo Drafthouse Cinema has proposed opening a 10-screen theater with over 700 seats and luxury recliners at 60 Seaport Blvd. It will also have a bar, The Press Room, and serve beer, wine and craft cocktails.  The decor will feature a printing museum vibe complete with working letterpress and more than 10,000 vintage movie ad plates from the 1930s through the 1980s.  We can’t wait!

Sally’s Apizza is coming to town!

Considered one of the best pizza spots in the country by some, a Connecticut restaurant is coming to the neighborhood! Sally’s Apizza will open in Fort Point on Thompson Place in 2024. Sally’s Apizza was founded in New Haven, CT, by Salvatore “Sally” Consiglio in 1938. According to its website, they hand-craft authentic New Haven pizza in custom-designed ovens using the original recipes. The pizza is known for its distinctive tomato sauce and chewy, crispy crust with an iconic oven-kissed char. The pizza is so good that people have it shipped nationwide! Wowza!

Small Victories

In the ever-changing landscape of restaurants in the neighborhood, a new one is on the horizon for South Boston!  According to Boston Eater, the team behind Quiet Few – an East Boston whiskey bar— will be opening a new restaurant and bar called Small Victories at 400 Dorchester Street. The 6-story building in Andrew Square was completed in October 2021 and is a mix of residential and commercial spaces.

East End Books

East End Books will open its second location in the Seaport District at 300 Pier 4 Blvd. this fall! In addition to books, they’ll be serving up tapas from Woods Hill Pier 4 and wine and hosting many events!

The Broadway Golf Club

Listen up, golf enthusiasts! The Broadway Golf Club will be opening this summer. Construction is ongoing in the 7,300 SF basement space on West Broadway, but owner (and Southie native) Danny Picard hopes to open by end of 2023.

“I’m excited to show Southie what we’ve been working on with Broadway Golf Club. From the six state-of-the-art Trackman simulators to our “19th Hole” bar and sports lounge, it will be unlike anything else in the neighborhood. And I can’t wait for everyone to see it,” said Picard. For more information, visit the Broadway Golf Club’s website and follow them on Instagram!

Everybody Fights

Everybody Fights is moving from Channel Center Street to Ray Flynn Marine Park in December. It will be located in the Design Center Building on Dry Dock Ave. And guess what? The space is double the size! And by the looks of it, Everybody Fights is offering all things fitness, yoga, boxing, strength, and spin. Follow their Instagram for more updates!

New Lydia Shire Project

BioMed Realty recently executed a lease with renowned James Beard award-winning chef Lydia Shire for a restaurant concept at Seaport Science Center, a 492,000 square-foot life science redevelopment in Boston, MA. Slated to open in 2024, this new concept will complement the venerable Scampo which Shire opened at the Liberty Hotel in 2008.

F45

F45 had announced they were opening in spring 2023 in Southie. Unfortunately, 457 West Broadway ground-level space remains vacant. Their last post on Instagram was from November 2022 and has had no updates since. A little birdie did tell us, they are looking for other spots in the neighborhood but nothing has been announced. F45 does have other locations if you want to travel outside of South Boston…but honestly who would want to do that?
